Linda pointing at a Fairchild Electronics business card

My family has been in the Bay Area for over 60 years. I was born at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose just before journalist Don Hoefler first used the term "Silicon Valley" in print. My dad was part of that boom, as he worked for Fairchild Semiconductor in the 1970s.

When offered the chance to move our family to Brazil so that he could be the comptroller for a semiconductor fabrication plant outside of São Paulo, he took it. We lived in Campinas for three years.

We then moved back to Sunnyvale, and then on to Honolulu where I grew up. I moved to the East Coast to attend Bryn Mawr College, and after graduation I moved between Los Angeles, New York City, and New Jersey. I earned my Masters of Science in Education with a double major in Elementary and Special Education, and began my teaching career.

It wasn't easy being the new kid in Campinas, Sunnyvale, or Honolulu. I had to adapt each time in order to make new friends. I learned how to build bridges between people and cultures, which I'm doing to this day.

Since we moved back here 15 years ago, I have invested my time, energy, and passion into Palo Alto’s schools and community. As a parent, elementary math resource teacher, substitute teacher, classroom aide, and PTA leader, I’ve seen firsthand what helps our students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our community has spoken about what kind of leadership we want from our new Superintendent. Families and staff are asking our leaders to truly listen, collaborate on solutions, and refocus on our students.

I want to bring that leadership to our community. My deep understanding of our systems, along with relationships with our families and staff, will help us deliver excellence for all, strengthen belonging, and rebuild community trust, so that we prepare our students for whatever the future brings. I would be honored to earn your vote.
